County Court Judgements (CCJ)

ccj - county court judgements"Most of us, at some point in our lives, struggle with our finances. This can result in receiving a County Court Judgement CCJ."

I received a County Court Judgement. How did I get it?

There are primarily two reasons why you might have a County Court Judgement or default registered on your credit file.

late or absent payments leading to CCJsLate or absent payments on any unsecured loans you may have.
CCJs after debt collection requests have been ignoredWhen a debt collection agency feels you have been ignoring payment requests.

Unpaid accounts are usually passed on to debt collector by the original creditor or lender. Credit companies and lenders tend to use the same debt collection agency and so the agency will usually be working on a number of cases for your creditor.

When recovering debts, these collection companies have laws and guidelines that they must follow to compliantly recover any debt from you.

I've had a CCJ. What are the long term effects?

A collection company or debt collector will only step in to recover a debt if a default has been registered prior to any collection company being notified. They will then recover the defaulted funds.

Despite the fact that the debt have been referred to the debt collector you can still come to an arrangement with either the creditor or respective debt collector. If not, you can be forced into a court action which can then result in a County Court Judgement known as a CCJ being registered against your credit file.

This information held on your credit file is then available for other lenders to see prior to agreeing to lend you any more money. A County Court Judgement will show up on future credit checks and in most cases will prevent you from obtaining further credit.

Even though a CCJ or default doesn't stay on your credit files for ever, it will remain for 6 years which could have serious detrimental affects on you obtaining credit at an affordable repayment rate.

Credit Reference Files - Can I have a CCJ removed?

If you are looking for ways to secure loans or goods you may need, there are ways to return your credit rating to how it was before the CCJ. Legally, a County Court Judgement can be legally removed from your credit records in just a few short days or weeks if correction is required due to wrongful registration against your name.

We are confident that we can partially or totally repair your credit rating depending on the specifics on the case at the time, although there are obviously some exceptions.
